10 Best Marriage of Convenience Books to Read in 2026

If there is one trope that I will never, ever get tired of, it's hands-down the Marriage of Convenience trope. There's just something about two people standing at an altar for literally every reason except love that makes for an amazing romance story. Whether it's for a business deal, a family inheritance, a green card, or a quick fix for a messy situation, you can guarantee I'll fly through those pages. Honestly? I don't think we see this trope nearly enough! We get plenty of 'Fake Dating' or 'Enemies to Lovers' romances every other day it feels like, yet there's a major shortage of books that begin with our characters saying "I do" before they've even kissed. This trope makes for such a different level of stakes and tension, easily making it one of my favorites. Book Review: When Sparks Fly by Monica Murphy

It's always exciting to dive into a book by a new-to-me author, especially when they come as highly recommended as Monica Murphy. I've seen amazing things about her Lancaster Prep series, and so I decided to finally take the plunge with her newest release. If you know anything about my reading taste, then you know small-town romances are one of my favorites to read about. Throw in the single dad trope and a firefighter hero?
