A few years ago I had a realization many bookworms face: my "to-be-read" pile had become an entire library of unread books, with little shelf space remaining. As new books kept coming out, my book buying habit was easily outpacing my reading speed. So, I decided to take the leap and buy a Kindle to not only save money, but to also reduce the amount of physical books I was buying. While I've found some great free books and monthly sales, nothing has saved me more money than my Kindle Unlimited subscription. I often see people asking if Kindle Unlimited is worth it, and my answer is always a resounding "yes."The monthly subscription costs less than a single paperback book, but also lets you borrow up to 20 books at a time. I love that I can read a book digitally at first, then if I absolutely love it, I can buy a physical copy for my shelves later. Plus, it's a fantastic way to save a significant amount of money if you tend to read a lot. And you don't even need a Kindle device to use the subscription, instead you can download the Kindle app on your phone or tablet, that way you can read your books wherever you go. Since I love it so much, I'm starting a new series dedicated to sharing some of favorite finds. Here are my top 10 Kindle Unlimited contemporary romance recommendations for 2025.

The Chestnut Spring Series
Flawless is the first book in the Chestnut Springs series, and follows Rhett Eaton who is a professional bull rider. When a video of Rhett goes viral putting his career in jeopardy, to save his image his agent assigns his daughter Summer to be Rhett's full time supervisor to keep him out of trouble during rodeo season. Summer is a public relations expert and has no interest in cowboys, especially Rhett. As they are forced to remain in close proximity to eachother while on the road and at Rhett's family ranch, the lines between them begin to blur. Quickly going from enemies-to-lovers they must then explore their connection while also tackling each others vulnerabilities.
This series is one of my top-tier kindle unlimited recommendations. Elsie Silver is the queen of small-town cowboy romances, and to be able to read any of her books for free on Kindle Unlimited is amazing. I've enjoyed every book in the Chestnut Springs series, most of which receiving a 4 star or higher, with my personal favorite being Powerless. If you are looking for a cozy, small town romance with a tight knit community and strong family dynamics, this series is worth checking out!
The Boys of Tommen Series
The first book in the series, Binding 13, follows two teenagers from opposite lives. Shannon is a new student at Tommen College after several years of severe bullying and abuse at home. All she wants at Tommen is to be invisible and blend in with the other students. Johnny is the school's rugby star with a promising career ahead of him. He has no time for a girlfriend, but when he collides into Shannon on her first day, their lives will be forever changed. Despite wanting to keep his distance from Shannon, he can't help but be drawn to her and quickly finds himself protective of her. As their friendship deepens they must navigate Shannon's past trauma and Johnny's future, while also grappling with their strong connection.
I have had this series on my kindle for probably the last two years. I've heard nothing but constant praise for these books, so I look forward to checking these out myself. It's supposed to be a very emotional journey, and its great to see that these are so easily accessible on kindle unlimited. That way I can read them before committing to buying a whole new series and filling up my limited shelf space.
The Addicted Series
Addicted to You is the first book in the Addicted Series, and follows Loren Hale as well as Lily Calloway, who are two codependent friends who use a fake relationship to hide their separate addictions from their families. Lily while seeming shy and reserved actually struggles with an addiction to sex, leading to hookups and one night stands that she regrets soon after. Loren on the other hand is an alcoholic who finds comfort at the bottom of a bottle of bourbon. For three years they have lived together while pretending to be a couple, but as their lies begin to spin out of control, the lies they so carefully constructed begin to crack. When family and friends begin to question their relationship, they start to wonder whether they can continue with the facade, or if their fake relationship has more truth to it than they realized.
I am addicted to the Addicted series. This is one of my all time favorite romance series, and my copies of these books are probably the most heavily annotated books that I own. These books are so believable and the characters feel like real people. The story itself has so many twists and turns as you go through the series, and the writing itself is absolutely stunning with so many quotes that of course I had to tab and highlight. The friendships and strong family ties in these books are some of the best I've read, and I truly can't recommend these books highly enough. If you have the time and energy to commit to a lengthy series, definitely check these out!
Maple Hills Series
Icebreaker is the first book in the Maple Hills Series and follows Anastasia and Nate. Anastasia is a competitive figure skater who has dedicated her life to making it into the Olympics. When a mishap leads to the figure skating team having to share the rink with the University's hockey team, her dream is in jeopardy. Nate is the captain of the hockey team and is focused on keeping his team on the ice, and out of trouble. With the sudden forced proximity to the figure skaters, he quickly discovers that Anastasia wants nothing to do with him. But that all changes when Anastasia's skating partner gets injured, and she is told that she must partner up with Nate for the time being. Over time that hatred starts to turn into a relentless attraction that neither can deny. The tropes featured are rivals to lovers, grumpy-sunshine, and sports romance.
I remember buying the paperback of each new release in this series as it came out, especially after Icebreaker was pulled off of Kindle Unlimited when it got picked up by a publishing house. Now that the whole series is available to read for free, this is the perfect time to dive in before the fourth book comes out and they're likely pulled again. These are fun sports romances, similar to that of Elle Kennedy's the Deal series. If you want a college romance book with close friend groups, that also touches on some deeper topics, then give this series a try.
The Washington Wolves Series
The first book in the series, The Bombshell Effect, follows Allie Sutton who suddenly inherits her fathers professional football team. Luke Pierson is the teams veteran quarterback, and also Allie's new next-door neighbor. After an explosive first encounter he wants nothing to do with the new owner of the Washington Wolves team. Despite him believing that she'll ruin the team, they must put their differences aside and try to maintain a professional relationship. As they spend more time together they begin to realize that maybe hatred can turn into passion. While they navigate their personal as well as work life relationship, they embark on a forbidden romance that could put the team in jeopardy.
Let me begin by saying I loved this book. This is sports romance at it's finest with a strong female lead, and a male lead that's a single dad while trying to balance his professional career at the same time. These books are incredibly easy to binge-read, and have several laugh out loud moments you are sure to enjoy. With football season quickly approaching, this would be a great choice to get you in the spirit!
Bellinger Sisters Series
It Happened One Summer is the first book in the Bellinger Sisters duology by Tessa Bailey and follows Piper. Piper is a wealthy socialite who following a wild night leading to an arrest ends up getting banished by her stepfather to a small Washington fishing town. While exploring the hometown of her late father she clashes with Brendan, the towns broody, bearded, sea captain. He finds her city-girl attitude frustrating, and views her as just another tourist. But the more they spend time together that hatred starts to turn into an undeniable attraction. Piper starts to see the charms of small-town life, and will be forced to confront her own identity and what she really wants from her own life, as well as her feelings for Brendan.
This book was the start of my love for Tessa Bailey books, and still to this day is one of the best series that she's wrote in my opinion. It Happened One Summer also features the tropes grumpy-sunshine, opposites attract, and small-town. If you're looking for a spicy rom-com with coastal vibes, this is one worth picking up.

Wait For It
When Diana Casillas gains custody at 29 of her two young nephews following a family tragedy, she moves to a quiet neighborhood hoping to give them a stable home. However, that quiet life she hoped for is quickly uprooted by her new neighbor Dallas with his grumpy attitude and a mysterious past. Despite Dallas and Diana getting off to a rocky start, once Dallas begins to see how hard Diana works to give her nephews a normal life, he begins to help her any way he can. The more time they spend together, Diana gets to see more of who Dallas really is, and a friendship blossoms.
Trust me when I say Mariana Zapata is the ultimate queen of slow-burn romances. Wait For it is absolutely no exception, delivering not only a slow-burn romance that will leave you swooning, but also has an extremely emotional story that is sure to tug on your heart strings. This is easily one of my favorite books by her, and is one of the few books of hers still being offered on Kindle Unlimited. So if you are in the mood for a more emotional read, then definitely give this one a try.
The Unhoneymooners
A romantic comedy following Olive who has always been unlucky in life. At her twin sister Ami's wedding, luck suddenly is in her favor when all the other guests get food poisoning from some bad shellfish, and the romantic honeymoon in Hawaii is up for grabs. However, her mortal enemy, who also just happens to be the Grooms brother, Ethan, is the only other person who chose not to eat the shellfish. So Olive and Ethan begrudgingly go on the trip together, pretending to be a married couple in order to still qualify for the trip. As their fake honeymoon progresses they must navigate awkward situations forcing them to spend time together, and an attraction begins to blossom. They might discover that what they thought about each other was never true, and that a fake romance can turn into a real one.
I read this book a few years ago on a travel day, and I remember it kept me entertained my whole flight. The premise is the perfect set up for a rom-com and is sure to bring a few laughs. Fake-dating is a classic trope that almost always works, and I never can get enough of it. If you're in the mood for a light-hearted romance with a good dose of humor, then check out The Unhoneymooners.
The Dreamland Billionaires Series
The Fine Print is the first book in the Dreamland Billionaire series and follows Rowan Kane who is the heir to his family's theme park empire, Dreamland. In order to secure his inheritance he must complete a series of tasks left for him in his Grandfather's will, and only if he does so can he keep his place at Dreamland. When he is tasked with giving a old struggling project a new life, he must come up with an innovative idea, and enlists the help of his employees. Zara is a long time underappreciated employee at Dreamland, and one night sends in a drunken proposal for the project, while criticizing the parks most expensive ride. When she sobers up and realizes what she sent, she fears she may get fired, but instead Rowan offers her the job. As they work together on the project they must put their differences aside, and secrets will come out.
This is a fun billionaire romance featuring the tropes grumpy-sunshine, and work-place romance. The idea of a theme park similar to Disney is such an interesting plot device, and the way it was executed I think was done in a super entertaining and unique way. The rest of the series follows each of the brothers as they tackle their grandfather's unique requests in order to gain their share of the family company, with romance following each of them along the way.
Bellamy Creek Series
Drive Me Wild is the first book in the Bellamy Creek Series by Melanie Harlow and follows Griffin who is a single dad to his two children following a tragedy. When Blaire breaks down in his small-town, trying to escape her debutante life, he offers to help get her back on her feet, and fix up her car in his mechanic shop. Determined to win her over, Griffin tries his best to break down her walls and show her what a small-town life can bring. As a connection begins to brew between them, they must also confront small-town gossip, and their own complicated pasts.
I devoured this series when I first found it on Kindle Unlimited a few years ago. This first one is still probably my favorite in the series, delivering plenty of humor, as well as some spicy scenes sure to make you sweat. This small-town romance features the single-dad and grumpy sunshine tropes. I highly recommend checking this one out!
