What's In My Bag: Reader Edition

One of my favorite things to do as soon as the weather is nice, is pack up a bag, and head to the park for a few hours of reading time. Something about laying in the grass and reading a book just feels like summer, and is something I look forward to every year. I even have a favorite tree to read under, it's absolutely perfect. With the summer season approaching, these are some of the essentials I plan on having in my bag this summer.

1. First of course, I'll need a good sized bag to bring my book as well as other goodies in. I usually prefer a large canvas tote-bag, but occasionally will use a purse, such as this woven beach style one. Here's one similar to the one I have on Amazon, which can be found here. I especially love a bag with a small zipper pocket inside to keep my wallet, keys, and phone safe.

    2. A book! Now this doesn't have to be a traditional book, sometimes I bring a paperback, but there's other times I bring my kindle along instead. Another option is to listen to an audiobook, especially if going somewhere that might be louder, like a coffee shop, or a busy park. This summer I plan on bringing to the park the Sullivan Family series, which is a small town romance series my fiance gifted me for Christmas, and I've been excited to get to. It looks like a long series, and I'm obsessed with the special edition covers which I'll link here because they are gorgeous.

   3. A book-sleeve, these get forgotten about so often, but I love to keep my books safe. There's been times in the past where I've just thrown my book in a bag and came out with a damaged book. So let's protect our books, plus it works great for kindles as well. Not only does using a book sleeve keep our books safe, it also usually features a cute design, so I love having these around. For example, if you're a fan of the acotar series, you can find a cute book-sleeve here. I'm not even kidding, I probably have 20 of these things, they are great for trips too!

  4. A snack...because reading is hard-work. Now the kind of snacks you choose to bring is entirely up to you, but there's really no limit on what you can bring in your bag. I tend to bring fresh fruit, or pastries, and have even went all out before having  brought a whole artichoke spinach dip set up. I also like to bring something to drink like a Vitamin water, Alani energy drinks, or on a treat yourself day I'll get Starbucks. The whole point is to be able to relax and get some reading done, so if an all out picnic for one is what you're in the mood for, I say go for it!

  5. Sunscreen! If I plan on being out for a few hours and I know it's a pretty warm day, I almost always will throw in a bottle of sunscreen. Nothing puts a damper on a full on outdoor reading session quite like realizing you've gotten burnt. Bug spray or mosquito bracelets are also something I like to bring if reading somewhere near water, such as a lake or pond.

  6. This last one depends entirely up to you and your desired location for reading, however my final essential is a picnic blanket. It makes the experience more comfortable, which therefore means I'll stay longer, and actually get some reading done. For going to the park and wanting to sit in the grass, this is easily an essential for me. However, camping chairs also could work. It's all up to you and your preferences.

Book Review: Wild Love by Elsie Silver

It's no secret that Elsie Silver is the queen of cowboy romance books. Her Chestnut Springs series made it onto many romance readers favorites list over the last few years, so you can guess my excitement (along with everyone else's) when she announced her spin off Rose Hill series. This series not only begins with a book featuring Ford, who is Willa's brother from Chestnut Springs, but also is marketed as being a series where four single dads find love. That's right ladies. Four books all promised to be single-dad romances, taking place in a cozy little mountain side small town. Did I mention they all are on a bowling team for single dads? Here are my thoughts on the first book in her new series, Wild Love . Get the Book Here Synopsis When Rosie Belmont finds herself suddenly back in her childhood town of Rose Hill, her brother's best friend Ford will do everything in his power from crossing a line with her. Things get more complicated when Rosie needs a job, and...

Welcome to Good Girls Read Smut!

( Image created through AI on Microsoft Bing, all rights of image go to them) If you've made it here to my little corner of the internet, let me just begin by saying thank you. From the title of the blog, you might have an idea about what kind of blog this is going to be, as well as what type of content to expect.  Smut. Lots of it.  You can expect posts featuring reading lists, current favorites, book recommendations, reviews, annotation guides, and how to start a book journal. Pretty much if it has to do with books (smutty ones of course) you'll find it here. But who am I to tell you what books to read, and why should you trust my recommendations? Well, let me introduce myself. My name is Brittany, I'm in my late 20's, and I have read a lot (and I mean A LOT) of books over the course of my life. I might not have started my reading journey with romance books, instead having read a bit of pretty much any genre you can think of, but the last few years have fallen down ...

Book Review: Hate Mail by Donna Marchetti

Let me begin by saying this book has been sitting on my kindle for the last year. Drawn in by the cutesy cover, I had snatched up Hate Mail when it went on sale without a second thought. But like most book girlies, I have a never-ending tbr pile, so this one got put on the back burner for a while. When the valentines season started approaching, I knew right away I wanted to finally read it. The cutesy Tessa Bailey-esque cover just screams valentines day. So I did what we all long to do on a snowy day, and curled up with this book, as well as a warm cup of coffee, and read the damn thing. Here are my thoughts. Get the Book Here Synopsis An enemies-to-lovers story following two life long pen pals. Well that is, until 2 years ago when the letters suddenly stopped. But now all that is about to change when Naomi gets a spontaneous letter at her job as a news anchor from Luca. There's one little hitch though, there's no return address. Now Naomi is determined to not let him get the...
