My Summer Reading List For 2025

With the summer season now upon us, I cherish the longer days where I can dive into a good book. One of my favorite things to do is read outside, and what better way to celebrate the nice weather, than with a summer romance book. But what does it mean for a book to be a "summer romance"? Well, first and foremost, the most important is the overall vibes. I want a romance with a summer camp, trips to the beach, fake-dating at a summer wedding, lake-house visits, or even a cowboy romance. Usually these romances are more lighthearted then other romance books out there, and make for a fun, quick read. These are some of the romances I plan on reading this summer.

Same Time Next Summer
Sam is doing great. She's engaged to Jack, who happens to be a doctor, and she has a really great job herself. But when they go to look at a wedding venue by her family's Long Island beach house, she is shocked to find that her first love Wyatt is also in town. As her memories resurface of their time together, she also finds that old sparks might still be ignited after all. With a wedding approaching Sam will have to decide who her heart belongs to. I'm excited to read this one, last year I read Annabel Monaghan's Summer Romance and gave it four stars because I enjoyed all the cozy small town summer vibes. I saw she also has another summer release this year, but before I get to that one I wanted to read this one since I have the physical book already on my tbr.

All Roads Lead To Rome
It's Story's last summer in Rome before going off to college. She lives a quiet introverted life with her attorney mom, that is until she finds herself in a fake dating scheme while in a gelato shop. And not just any fake dating scheme, it's with Scottish heartthrob Luca Kinnaird. So what better way to fake date, then for Story to be Luca's own personal tour guide of Rome, taking him to all the best date spots in the city. In exchange, he promises her a scholarship in honor of her late father's memory. But dating a celebrity (even if it's just pretend...or is it) comes with it's own challenges, including an overbearing paparazzi. This book screams summer romance to me, between the Gelato, summer travels, and of course one of my favorite tropes fake-dating, I can't wait to pick this one up. I recently hauled the paperback and it's at the top of my summer Tbr. Now that I think about it, this might also have to do with the plot line reminding me of the Lizzie Mcguire movie when I was a kid, which I was obsessed with! Fake-dating in Rome is a fool proof way to get me invested I guess.

One Look
Wyatt is a former NFL star, who now has turned to coaching college football, in order to be the best full-time single dad he can be to his daughter. As he navigates trying to give his daughter a normal life, even if it means settling back down near his coastal hometown in Michigan, he comes across Lark...who just happens to get paid to cry at funerals. With a bizarre occupation, he isn't sure what to think of her, but all he knows is it took only one look, and possibly one kiss, to make it where he can't get her out of his mind. Then she becomes his new neighbor, and maybe all those plans he made for himself really don't matter when she's involved. I've personally been excited to read this one for a while! My fiance bought me the full series for Christmas and I not only love the unique premise of this one, but also adore the stunning special edition covers. I've already read a few chapters and it seems like it will be on the steamier side, so I can't wait to fully dive in.

Say You'll Remember Me
Xavier Rush is perfect. He's a veterinarian, gorgeous, and looks like a god while holding a kitten. Now when he opens his mouth, not so much. Still, Samantha goes out on a limb and goes on a date with him, and it's incredible, he's incredible. But the timing is all wrong, and her family needs her, making the possibility of a relationship impossible. So Samantha instead asks Xavier to forget her, and accept that although the night was perfect, it can't happen again. But it will be harder for them both to forget the feelings that were growing between them, and how just perhaps a perfect moment could have turned into a perfect life. Now I love a good Abby Jimenez book, and the plot of this one intrigues me quite a bit. The cover is the epitome of a summer romance in my eyes, and I just hope that this one doesn't leave me in tears. I have heard mixed things, but I'm hoping I'm on the side that loves this book, especially since I have a gorgeous special edition cover.

Off to the Races
When Vaughn finds himself returning to his small town of Ruby creek, in order to restore the family ranch, as well as the family name following a scandal, he needs all the help he can get. Starting with getting his best race horse trained, so he hires Billy to do the job. But she's nothing like what he expected, and although they can't stand each-other, their desire for one another is stronger. Despite her smart mouth and sassy attitude, she's the only one that can save the family business, but Vaughn might find winning the girl is just as important as winning the race. This is my Elsie Silver pick for the summer, as I tend to start one of her series each summer and this one has been sitting on my kindle for the longest time. I love her cowboy romances and the cozy small town vibes her books bring. Plus, this one sounds like it might have some enemies-to-lovers vibes, so I'm here for it. I honestly haven't read a Elsie Silver book that I didn't like, and that's saying something because I am picky, so I know she'll deliver on this one.

Passion Project
Bennet Taylor's life is miserable. She works as a temp in New York, her life has no direction, and is suffering from the overwhelming grief of the death of her first-love. One night she tries to get out of her shell and go on a first-date with a guy named Henry. Instead she stands him up, only to later in the night run into him. In a moment of honesty she confesses to him it's been years since she's felt passionately about anything, so Henry takes it upon himself to help her find her passion for life again. They will go out every Saturday as friends, and try something new in the city in hopes of bringing happiness to Bennet, even if it means having to bungee off a few sky scrapers. As her shell starts breaking away, Bennet will have to decide what she wants out of life, and if she has it in her to move on from grief. This book sounds like it will be a hard-hitting summer read, which also will showcase some lighthearted moments. Not to mention the fact that it's marketed as a slow-burn romance, which I'm hoping I'll enjoy. I also love a good emotional book during the summer time, and this sounds like it will be just that.

Problematic Summer Romance
When all Maya can think about is her older brother's best friend Conor, she tries to forget about him. She knows it would be totally cliche, he's much older than she is, he's a successful biotech, she's a struggling grad student. He's made it clear he doesn't want a relationship with her, but sometimes plot twists happen, like a destination wedding for Maya's brother in a beautiful Sicilian villa, where Conner will also be attending. But Conner is hiding something from her, and although she wants to know what, she can't help but think a summer fling might be exactly what she needs. Now this book sounds like an absolute train-wreck, but I'm still going to read it because I love drama. I tend to enjoy most of Ali Hazelwood's books, so I'm interested to see if this one falls into my favorites category. Plus, it sounds like it will be very summery, with a beautiful villa, a summer fling, and a destination wedding. Keeping my fingers crossed that I end up loving this one!

Till Summer Do Us Part
When Scottie starts a new job, she quickly finds that she's the only woman on the team. Trying to fit in and make a good impression on her boss, she mentions her non-existent husband during a meeting, but her boss Chad points out  her lack of a wedding ring. In a moment of panic, Scottie claims she doesn't wear her ring due to marital issues, in which her boss then offers her a one-on-one session with his marriage counselor husband. No way out of the situation, Scottie quickly agrees that her and her husband will go see him. When she tells her best friend, who sets her up with his brother to be her fake husband, since he does improv. While Wilder is more than happy to be her fake husband, he's also a billionaire, and signs them up for a eight day marriage summer camp, because everyone knows the number one rule in improv is to always say "yes". But there's one little catch, not only will Scottie be sharing a cabin with her new fake husband who is way too hot for his own good, but also all of Scottie's co-workers will also be attending this summer camp. This book sounds like it will be a lot of fun, I love summer camp vibes, and throw in some fake-dating I'm sure this will be a blast to read!

Great Big Beautiful Life
Alice Scott is waiting for her big writing break, and is hoping that on Little Crescent Island she finds it in writing a biography about a woman there, Margaret Ives. However, she's not the only one wanting the story of the heiress/tabloid princess, as Hayden Anderson who has won Pulitzer's for his writing also is on a mission to write her story. Margaret decides she will give them both a one month trial period, then will choose who gets to write her story, but the only problem is she seems to be giving them both only fragments of her story, and with a tight NDA they can't put these fragments together. As they struggle this, as well as with their desire for one another, they also start to develop their own story alongside Margaret's. I just purchased this book about a week ago and can't wait to pick it up, it's giving Beach Read with a twist, and I think this will be a great summer read.

Just For the Summer
Every woman Justin dates immediately finds their soul mate when they break up. When Justin goes viral on a Reddit thread for confessing his curse, a woman with a similar issue messages him. They come up with a plan where they will date each other for a certain amount of time, then break up, therefore canceling out each other's dating curse. When what is supposed to be just a quick summer fling between traveling nurse Emma and Justin starts to become a lot more, with family struggles, as well as with feelings involved, they start to wonder if it could be more than just a fling. Guys I am guilty of having this book on my Tbr for over a year...I even read a quarter of it in Hawaii then ended up not finishing it. I want to finish it, and I want to be obsessed with it, so of course it had to make it on to my Summer Reading list. I've heard great things about this one, so I'm sure I will love it.

Book Review: Wild Love by Elsie Silver

It's no secret that Elsie Silver is the queen of cowboy romance books. Her Chestnut Springs series made it onto many romance readers favorites list over the last few years, so you can guess my excitement (along with everyone else's) when she announced her spin off Rose Hill series. This series not only begins with a book featuring Ford, who is Willa's brother from Chestnut Springs, but also is marketed as being a series where four single dads find love. That's right ladies. Four books all promised to be single-dad romances, taking place in a cozy little mountain side small town. Did I mention they all are on a bowling team for single dads? Here are my thoughts on the first book in her new series, Wild Love . Get the Book Here Synopsis When Rosie Belmont finds herself suddenly back in her childhood town of Rose Hill, her brother's best friend Ford will do everything in his power from crossing a line with her. Things get more complicated when Rosie needs a job, and...

Welcome to Good Girls Read Smut!

( Image created through AI on Microsoft Bing, all rights of image go to them) If you've made it here to my little corner of the internet, let me just begin by saying thank you. From the title of the blog, you might have an idea about what kind of blog this is going to be, as well as what type of content to expect.  Smut. Lots of it.  You can expect posts featuring reading lists, current favorites, book recommendations, reviews, annotation guides, and how to start a book journal. Pretty much if it has to do with books (smutty ones of course) you'll find it here. But who am I to tell you what books to read, and why should you trust my recommendations? Well, let me introduce myself. My name is Brittany, I'm in my late 20's, and I have read a lot (and I mean A LOT) of books over the course of my life. I might not have started my reading journey with romance books, instead having read a bit of pretty much any genre you can think of, but the last few years have fallen down ...

Book Review: Hate Mail by Donna Marchetti

Let me begin by saying this book has been sitting on my kindle for the last year. Drawn in by the cutesy cover, I had snatched up Hate Mail when it went on sale without a second thought. But like most book girlies, I have a never-ending tbr pile, so this one got put on the back burner for a while. When the valentines season started approaching, I knew right away I wanted to finally read it. The cutesy Tessa Bailey-esque cover just screams valentines day. So I did what we all long to do on a snowy day, and curled up with this book, as well as a warm cup of coffee, and read the damn thing. Here are my thoughts. Get the Book Here Synopsis An enemies-to-lovers story following two life long pen pals. Well that is, until 2 years ago when the letters suddenly stopped. But now all that is about to change when Naomi gets a spontaneous letter at her job as a news anchor from Luca. There's one little hitch though, there's no return address. Now Naomi is determined to not let him get the...
